Dustin Jones grew up in rural Saskatchewan, though his roots to Bridgeland-Riverside stems from his parents having their wedding reception in the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association Hall in 1978. After leaving the family farm in 1998, he spent a year in England studying and travelling before returning to Canada to complete a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
Dustin has worked most of his career in the energy sector with progressive experience across major North American basins. He started his career in a gritty hands-on field operations role and has continued to serve the energy sector as a reservoir engineer, exploitation engineer and in corporate development. In 2014, he helped evaluate the Baytex strategic acquisition of Aurora in a $2.6 billion deal.
Dustin has volunteered for Bike Calgary as Research Lead and Beakerhead. In 2017, he served as Fundraising Director for BRCA where he organized a Casino for the first time.
