Notice of Annual General Meeting 2019

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Community Hall, 917 Centre Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta.

Update: May 17, 2019

The Board of Directors has been made aware, informally, of a few people who might yet come forward to stand for election as directors at the AGM. Fingers crossed. At this time, though, the alphabetical list of individuals who are presently known to be standing for election / re-election is:

Brian Beck, President
Joe Belland
Ana Hoepfner
Deb Lee
Jil Macdonald
Alex MacWilliam
Ali McMillan
Susan Mulholland
Joanna Wynn

Under BRCA’s Bylaws, the maximum number of directors is 13, which means that there is room for (at least) 5 new-director nominees before the Board would be fully composed. Please reach out to us for more information if you might be interested in joining BRCA’s Board!

Coming soon - but the fun part is there's a PUB NIGHT after the AGM!

Archived AGM minutes and financial records are kept on the BRCA Board page.

The BRCA Conflict of Interest Policy and the BRCA Code of Ethics, our Bylaws, and other governance documents are kept on the BRCA Governance page.

Family Bike Day

A Family Bike Rodeo is coming to Bridgeland on Saturday, May 25!

Learn the key bike handling skills that are necessary to ride safely. Wheely great family fun for ages 7+.

Register in advance for this fun event!

The Family Bike Rodeo is a Level 2: Cycling Basics course. The course is 90 minutes and you can choose from four times throughout the day. Safer Cycling Calgary will provide the training, using a nationally-recognized curriculum.

This is a non-road course where participants learn safe bike handling skills like helmet check, bike fit, straight line riding, shoulder checking, signalling, stopping and bike security.

Participants must be at least 7 years old and be able to start independently, balance and pedal for at least 20 m, come to a stop using brakes (coaster or hand brakes are acceptable), turn left and right, and ride with one hand (keeping right hand on) for 3 seconds. Participants must bring their own bike in good working order and a properly fitted helmet. No training wheels permitted.

Adults can participate too! Even if you are not participating, a parent or guardian must be on site to observe each child’s 90-minute session.

This session is free of charge for Bridgeland-Riverside residents, but we ask you to pay a $20 fee to hold your spot. This fee will be returned to you after the training (please let us know if you’re a fair entry BRCA member and we can waive the fee).
