How to get involved

Planning Committee Meetings are generally held on the first Monday (6:30 pm) of each month in the lower rooms at the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Centre at 917 Centre Avenue N.E. but up to date scheduling can be found below.

How Planning Committee Works

Before attending, always check the agenda online at brcacalgary.org/planning prior to the meeting to ensure there aren't any time/ location changes or that the meeting hasn't been cancelled.

The format for the meeting is as follows...

We invite Developers/ applicants to present their plans to the committee...then we as Planning Committee ask questions of the applicant.  

We then hear from residents in attendance at the meeting if they have developer questions (we notify residents directly adjacent to developments of our meetings and invite them to attend).

We then excuse the developer and discuss issues with residents alone.

Then we excuse everyone not on planning committee to review what we heard.  We do not take "community positions" unless there is overwhelming consensus one way or another.  Usually we send feedback to the City in their desired format in which they ask...What are the strengths of the proposal?  What are the challenges? What suggestions do you have to make it better?  Any policy comments?  Any local knowledge that applies to the context/ application.
