The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Community Hall, 917 Centre Avenue N.E., Calgary, Alberta.

The regular business of the AGM will include the election of the Association’s Board of Directors.

Special business at the AGM will include a motion proposing a special resolution to change the Association’s bylaws. Article VII of the current bylaw reads as follows:

7.1 These Bylaws may be changed, altered, or added to by a Special Resolution at any Annual General or Special General Meeting of the Association.

7.2 The twenty-one (21) day notice of the Annual General or Special General Meeting of the Association must include details of any proposed resolution to change the Bylaws.

7.3 The amended Bylaws take effect after approval of the Special Resolution at the Annual General Meeting or Special General meeting, and only after the approval of the Corporate Registry of Alberta.

At least 21 days prior to the AGM (therefore not later than Tuesday, April 4, 2017), the text of the proposed special resolution including the bylaws as proposed to be changed—will be posted online at A proposed agenda for the meeting will also be posted online at the same time; the goal will be to conclude the meeting by approximately 9:00 PM.

Anyone interested in the bylaws project is invited and encouraged to contact BRCA (by contacting the director responsible for BRCA’s bylaws project, Vice President Brian Beck) to discuss that topic anytime before the AGM.

The Board welcomes questions and comments ahead of time especially since, for obvious reasons, the AGM itself will not be an efficient forum within which to edit or re-write the proposal to change the bylaws.

The bylaws are a lengthy legal document.

Looking to be a Board Director or volunteer? Get more involved in your neighbourhood? Meet new people? Do you want to help Bridgeland-Riverside stay awesome? If your answer to any or all of these questions is ‘yes’, then please contact me at: [email protected] and join us at the AGM. More information about volunteering and about joining the BRCA Board of Directors is available on the website right now.
